The easiest and most affordable way to fix led christmas lights is to have another strand available that you will not be using. In contrast to the well known light bulbs many modern led lights are no longer interchangeable.

If so remove one led from the good strand and use that socket to test each led one at a time from the bad strand. Leds produce much less heat than standard holiday lights and use about 1 10th of the energy. There may be more than one bad one so after replacing if the bad strand still doesn t light up go on to the next led. String or twist tie. You can harvest the bulbs from this strand to use on your burned out lights. If the led doesn t work in the good strand replace the led according to the directions that follow. Use a secondary string of lights as replacement bulbs.

Of course these numbers are just a guideline. Incandescent bulbs should be replaced every 4 6 years. As long as they still function you can keep your lights for another few years after the replacement window. The technology available for creating these lights is still improving.

Led lights last a bit longer for 7 10 years.
